Getting the most out of your university experience is tough, especially when it comes to finding the extra curricular activities that make your university experience truly memorable. There's hundreds of activities and events happening all the time and with technology so available you would think it would be easy to stay organized and up to date on what's going on at the university, right? Wrong, missed a bingo night even though you check the school website and Facebook? Sorry, it was posted on twitter last month. Completely missed an assignment in a class? Sorry, it was clearly posted as a single sentence online 3 weeks ago at 1am sandwiched between 4 other messages. It's horrible and absurd. In my first year of university I was always paranoid about leaving the school and missing some major event or assignment and would check all forms of social media multiple times a day, wasting a ton of time. This problem got even worse when we had to switch to online classes. Now, I'm alone, with no chance of being directly told something by a prof, walk by an advertisement, or overhear a conversation about something in the halls. My stress and anxiety went through the roof, I could never truly relax and I started annoying my friends constantly, making sure there was nothing important I was missing. Being forced to face this problem at its worst online, resulted in me finally developing strategies for overcoming this problem. I have a routine of checking all my class announcements boards and social media first thing in the morning and just before bed to keep myself confident that I'm not forgetting anything. This solved my problem of always being stressed and wasting time searching throughout the day. I also have a monthly calendar where I write important dates and events to keep my mind clear and organized so I know exactly what needs to be done and when. Finally, instead of bothering my friends constantly over important dates and events. I've limited myself to asking only crucial questions like \u201cwhen do I apply for classes\u201d and trying to find as much information as I can on my own instead. Trying to go through university without missing anything important is like wandering through life in total darkness with only a flashlight.
