Module 2 Section 2: Values, Practices, and Evidence

Description

Now that you are familiar with the basics of the Statement of Teaching Philosophy (STP), let's get into the details about how to talk about your teaching values, beliefs, and experiences in an STP. The goal is to think of how we can connect values, practices, and evidence.

In this section, we will explore how to:

  • identify teaching values;
  • talk about your teaching practices that embody your teaching values; and
  • find evidence of teaching effectiveness to include in your STP.

This 60-minute self-paced module is part of a four-module series for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows exploring strategies to reflect on their teaching and develop their teaching dossier.

Are you interested in adopting this series into your current and future graduate student and post-doctoral fellow professional development programming? If yes, download the "Institutional Guide" (PDF | DOCX) for programming ideas, embedding instructions, and customization options.

The series was co-developed by five institutional partners: Ryerson (X) University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of Windsor, and Western University. This project is made possible with funding by the Government of Ontario and through eCampusOntario’s support of the Virtual Learning Strategy.
