In this section we will be exploring the maker movement and engaging in dialogue about the significance the movement has in academic and community spaces as well as the impacts on wellness and social development. *(Unpack the following statement) *. I would like students to gain a deep understanding of how makerspaces have caused a positive shift in how we learn and connect with others in the community. Students will get the opportunity to practice creative thinking while choosing their independent project and creating the graphics for their first assignment. In this section we will be highlighting each stage of the design process as it relates to Makerspaces and making. I would like student to uncover the design process in a group setting using the collective existing experience and skills of the group to redesign to solve a problem using design. Students will get the opportunity to practice design thinking withing project while exploring concepts of critical, creative and entrepreneurial thinking. In this section we will be giving students the opportunity to combine their knowledge of the maker movement and envision a new and unique makerspace. Student will be asked to use the design process method to create a viable space for an academic institution or a community space. The main learning outcome is for students to synthesize the knowledge from Sections 1 & 2 into this final project.
