We listen because we want to or because we need to. But listening and understanding what we hear is only part of the challenge. We need to also use the information we learn, whether to discuss it, apply it to a new situation, or take some action.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

  On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the level 8 class will hear a guest lecturer. This lecture forms the basis of this listening and note-taking test. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
  \n\t
  You will take notes while you listen to the lecture, and you will have time to confer with your classmates to ensure that you have all of the information you need.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
  You may politely interrupt and ask questions or seek clarification during the lecture. There will also be time for questions at the end of the presentation. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
  Following the lecture, you will have an opportunity to compare your notes with classmates and discuss the content of the lecture. Your goal is to get information that you missed and\/or to clarify information that you don\u2019t understand.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
  Your notes will not be marked. However, you will use these as a reference for part 2 of the test.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

  At the end of this segment of the class, you will be asked to access Microsoft Forms link on Blackboard and give feedback to our guest speaker.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

  You will do this part of the test on your own, after class. This is the part of the test that will be marked. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
  Using the prompt questions provided, you will organize your thoughts and ideas into a 6-8-minute presentation. The questions will be made available to you on the test day, after speaker feedback forms have been submitted.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
  Remember that you should use the same steps to create and practice for this submission as you would if you were doing a live presentation.   Once you have developed your presentation, practice, practice, practice and when you are ready, record your presentation using either Microsoft Stream or a similar video recording tool.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
  Presentations must be between 6-8 minutes long (practice with a timer!) and your video must be one continuous recording; you may not stop and start the video. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

  Your submission is due by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n
  You may upload your video directly using the submission link in the test folder. However, please note that Blackboard has a size limit for attachments, so your video file may be too big to upload directly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
  If this is the case, save your video to your Microsoft OneDrive storage area and create a shareable link to paste into the submission message box. Be sure that your setting allows immediate access to your video.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
