The nature of long-term care requires medical equipment to be present as many individuals may have complex and\/or chronic illnesses. To make the home inviting and comforting, we use decorations and color. Where possible, we try to get residents out of their rooms to engage in activities with others. Peer support and connection is imperative in long-term care and can help support individuals experiencing social isolation. When a resident cannot leave their room, or we want to host activities in a common area instead of the recreation room, carts are used! Carts should be filled with a variety of activities to appeal to many residents and their interests.
