Adopt, adapt, or create any of the following: audio; documents; images; questions for an exam, test, or quiz question bank; images; video; and anything else you might be able to imagine!<\/p>\n\n

Adopt<\/strong>. Find existing materials. Shannon Moist offers a comprehensive list of repositories in the Faculty OER ToolKit<\/a>. Ecampus Ontario also has an Open Education Library<\/a>. You may want to look at discipline specific OER tools (e.g. nursing has access to the OPEN RN<\/a> project which includes several tools such as Virtual Simulations and text resources). <\/p>\n\n

Adapt<\/strong>. Go further with this approach by compiling available materials together. Adapting a tool allows you to even move outside of your discipline and consider other OER\u2019s which could be adapted to fit your unique course and needs. <\/p>\n\n

Create<\/strong>. Make your own OERS. Tailor resources to your courses, departments, and students. <\/p>\n\n

When looking for material to adopt or adapt, you should be aware of the license. Not everything that is available is open or licensed for reuse and adaptation. Creative Commons licensing offers the clearest indication of how to reproduce and\/or remix materials. You can learn more about licenses at this CC website link<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Some considerations are whether you want others to Share Alike, to keep it Non-Commerical, to have No Derivaties, or to make it fully Public. <\/p>\n\n

Pressbooks<\/strong>: Create, adapt, and share accessible, interactive, web-first books. Log in using Institutional Login and get started at this link<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n
Virtual Simulations\/games<\/strong>: Take a gaming approach to student learning. Virtual Sims may be created using H5P, or even added into a Pressbook, for instance. One example is the Can-Sim<\/a> site used by nursing educators across North America. <\/p>\n\n
Extended Reality (XR)<\/strong>: Use a variety of platforms to immersed learners into other settings without having them leaving their room. These may also be referred to as Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) (e.g., ENGAGE-VR<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n
