There are language rules in building medical terminology, but some medical terms are exceptions from these rules, and we refer to these as Rebels. To better understand Rebel, we will show you medical terminology that follows Rule # 1 and medical terminology exceptions from this rule.<\/p>\n\n

Rule #1. \u2013 combining form + combining form, we keep the second vowel in combining form.
\nEx: Gastr\/o\/enter\/o\/logy \u2013
\n>which means the study of the stomach and intestine. We keep the combining form vowel for enter\/o.<\/p>\n\n

Rebel example: Oste\/o\/arthr\/itis
\n>means Inflammation of the bone and joint. We don\u2019t keep the second combining form vowel in arthr\/o. <\/p>\n\n
