Camerise is a hub for French as a Second Language learning and collaboration. It is an educational repository that catalogues and hosts a range of multimedia resources for classroom instruction, continuing education, and more. We are also in the process of adding more features that enable users to interact with each other and make their own collections of their favourite FSL resources.<\/p>\n\n

While we have made significant progress in building Camerise, it is still very much a work in progress. We will be showing you what we have built so far, and where we still hope to go. As a result, some aspects of Camerise may seem incomplete. That is all part of the process. User-submitted resources are the foundation of Camerise. You can either submit your own resource (i.e. lesson plan, worksheet, quiz, etc.) or a link to something created externally (i.e. Youtube video). If you submit an external resource, be sure to write the description in your own words<\/strong> and refrain from copying text from other websites. Additionally, refrain from submitting resources that are behind a paywall, or that require users to create an account<\/strong> (even if it\u2019s a free account).<\/p>\n\n

Feel free to give the submission form a try without this guide, but if you would like more information about individual fields in the form, read on. Keep the submission form open in another tab for the optimal experience.<\/p>\n\n

Most of the fields on the Camerise submission form are optional.<\/strong> This is to give you flexibility in describing your resource. If an optional field does not apply to your resources, or if you\u2019re not sure, skip it!<\/strong> It\u2019s better to use fewer fields than to have unnecessary information that could be confusing to users.<\/p>\n\n

Before submitting any resources, do a quick search in Camerise to make sure it hasn\u2019t already been submitted.<\/strong> Having duplicate records can create confusion. Required Fields<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Resource Title<\/em>: A title that summarizes your resource. This can be in English, French, or whatever language(s) are present in the resource. The field has a maximum of 300 characters so don\u2019t make it too long.<\/p>\n\n

Resource Description<\/em>: A summary, in your own words, of the content of the resource. Due to copyright, do not copy and paste descriptions from external websites<\/strong>. Instead, share why you think this resource is a great addition to Camerise. The description is a flexible field, so if you have a piece of information and you\u2019re not sure where it should go, the description is a good home for it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Select Source<\/em>: Choose whether you will be submitting your own work or link to something online. Depending on what you choose, you will be prompted to either upload a file or provide a link. You can also add a custom preview image. If you are not sure what image you want to use, select \u201cSuggested\u201d or \u201cAutogenerated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Optional Fields<\/span><\/p>\n\n

As mentioned before, you can skip over any of these if you don\u2019t feel they are applicable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Resource Type<\/em>: Use this drop-down menu to select the format of your resource. Includes options like Presentation, Article, and Video. You can only select one term.<\/p>\n\n

Learning Material Type<\/em>: This is a specialized set of terms used by education databases. It includes options such as Case Study, Game, and Lesson Plan. Subjects<\/em>: Pick from this bilingual drop-down menu one or more subject terms for your resource. You can select multiple terms by clicking on the drop-down again, for a maximum of 3 terms. If none of the terms fit, you can always select \u201cOther.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Language of Resource<\/em>: Select any language(s) that are present in your resource. The current options are English, French, and Spanish. You can select multiple languages by clicking on the drop-down multiple times. If your resource contains a language that is not named in the menu, select \u201cOther.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Optional Fields<\/span><\/p>\n\n

You can skip over any of these if you don\u2019t feel they are applicable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Prep Time<\/em>: If you are submitting a resource with an estimated preparation time (like a lesson plan or presentation), select from the drop-down menu the amount of time that matches most closely.<\/p>\n\n

Teaching Duration<\/em>: If your resource is something like a lesson plan, you can choose the approximate teaching duration from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n

Author<\/em>: If you know the name of the individual who created the resource, you may enter it here. If you created the resource, you are welcome to enter your own name.<\/p>\n\n

Publisher<\/em>: If you know the name of the organization that published the resource (if any), you may enter it here.<\/p>\n\n

Programs<\/em>: You may choose a program or programs from the drop-down menu. Options include things like Core French and Immersion. You can select multiple programs by clicking the drop-down menu multiple times.<\/p>\n\n

Educational Level<\/em>: Using this bilingual drop-down menu you may choose grade levels and other types of educational levels for which your resource may be suited. Multiple selections can be made by clicking the drop-down menu multiple times.<\/p>\n\n

Keywords<\/em>: In this optional field, you may supply your own custom keywords. This is helpful if you want to add something not available in the Subjects drop-down menu or other drop-down menus.<\/p>\n\n

Traditional Knowledge Label<\/em>: If your resource contains traditional knowledge as defined by one or more Indigenous communities, you may label it with one or more Traditional Knowledge Labels. Required Fields<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The required fields on Page 3 are different depending on whether you chose to submit an external resource or upload something of your own.<\/p>\n\n

Terms of Agreement<\/em>: You will see this option if you submit an external resource. We require your consent to the submission terms for Camerise in order to complete your submission. All that\u2019s needed is to check the box.<\/p>\n\n

Distribution License<\/em>: You will see this option if you have submitted your own work. It looks complicated but all it means is that you affirm that the resource is yours and you give Camerise permission to store it and share it with others. It's still recommended that you read the entire agreement, but those are the main points.<\/p>\n\n

Creative Commons License<\/em>: You have the option to apply a Creative Commons (CC) license to your resource. A CC license would give others, in the Camerise community and the wider internet, permission to repost your work. There are several versions of the CC license so you can decide if you want credit, if you're comfortable with others changing your work, if you're ok with your work being used for commercial purposes, etc. Read through all the options to find the Creative Commons License that works for you. This is completely up to you and it is your right as creator of the material to determine how others are permitted to use it.<\/p>\n\n

No Creative Commons License<\/em>: If you choose this option, you retain all the rights associated with your resource and do not consent to it being shared (outside of Camerise), repurposed, changed, etc. You are completely within your rights to choose this option if it feels best for you.<\/p>\n\n

Optional Fields<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Accessibility Statement<\/em>: Check this box if you know that your resource has been assessed for accessibility purposes. If it hasn\u2019t or you do not know, do not check the box.<\/p>\n\n

Equity, Diversity, Social Justice<\/em>: Check this box if your resource has content related to equity, diversity, and\/or social justice. If you want to expand on these topics more, you can add text in the Resource Description or custom keywords in the Keywords field.<\/p>\n\n
