Shame: Exploring Child and Adolescent Abuse

This H5P item is an interactive video discussing shame while exploring child and adolescent abuse. In Grade 10 Health Care (TPJ 20), students are asked to describe (A4.1) forms of physical, emotional, verbal and sexual abuse, identify (A4.2) signs of abuse and describe services (A4.3) and programs that are available. Managing shame, guilt and self-blame can help students to better understand themselves and those around them who may have encountered some form of abuse and the steps to take when dealing with these feelings. Since shame and abuse is such a heavy topic, there are interactive sections of motivational pictures, breathing exercises, videos furthering the conversation and links to seek help from the Kids Help Phone.
