Steel toed boots\/shoes are needed to keep your feet safe from heavy objects. If an object that weighs 500lbs falls from any height, your foot will be pinned underneath until someone is able to come assist you. At least with steel toed boots, you will have a better chance of walking away with your foot and toes intact.
